I Suck at Street Fighter, But Who Cares?

Street Fighter

I’ll be the first to admit it: I’m terrible at Street Fighter. My timing is a mess, I can barely pull off a Hadouken when it counts, and I spend more time getting KO’d than I care to admit. But you know what? None of that stops me from loving the game. In fact, I love it so much that I even bought an Arcade1Up console just to practice at home. Spoiler alert: It hasn’t helped much. If anything, it’s just made it easier for people to come over and watch me lose in spectacular fashion.

Whether I’m playing it on a console or on the Arcade1Up, the joy of Street Fighter has always been about the experience, not the outcome. I love the thrill of picking my favourite character, jumping into a match, and trying my best (and failing miserably) to outsmart my opponent. Sure, I may end up button-mashing in desperation, but that’s all part of the fun. For me, it’s less about winning and more about the laughs, the memories, and the hope that, someday, I’ll finally land that elusive perfect combo. Until then, if you play against me, you’re pretty much guaranteed to win.
